Tournaments: What becomes of them?

Hello, Zak is here, with the OTHER kind of post I do best at: A serious post. (Top Tens are the other.)

We all know and love tournaments. They bring fun to the Club Penguin Warfare Public in a friendly manner. Armies duke it out to see which goes to the next round. But most people do NOT know the ACTUAL definition of the word Tournament. Here is the one for real life:

Tournament- a trial of skill in some game, in which competitors play a series of contests: a chess tournament.
And the CPW (Club Penguin Warfare) Definition:
Tournament: A type of battle style in which armies fight to see who moves on to the next round, the top competitors earning great prizes, or just bragging rights: ACP defeated the Nachos, so they move on to defeat the Ice Vikings, who defeated the Night Warriors.

Tournaments are a LOT more complicated than it may seem. They are like Top Tens: A person thinks they can make one and be great at it, but in reality, do not take in the real aspect of things. You need to have fairness, trust, and overall skill to manage one, which is why I do both Top Tens and the Spring Rumble. If you do not possess these traits, your success level will be very low. But enough with this. Let us move on to the effects of a tournament, positive, and negative.

Positive Effects
• Puts fun into a serious army.
– Some armies take things very seriously. But tournaments are meant for fun, not to make an army MORE serious! If leaders get the message, troops may feel more welcome.
• Makes an army active.
– Some armies are just practically dead when they enter these tournaments. They can, in reality, save an army from total death.
• Makes an army rise if they do well.
– If a weaker army defeats a stronger army, like in SMAC’s tournament when the Water Vikings pulled off an upset and defeated the Fire Warriors, it makes people aware of you. It sends out a message saying: “Hey! We’re still here!”
• Entertaining to watch.
– If your army is not involved, you can still watch! Tournaments are interesting overall.
• Brings partnerships through tournament battles.
– Armies may defeat another army and develop a sworn partnership through battle.
Negative Effects
• Brings armies to their downfall.
– An army may get defeated and be led to complete death, if they take it too hard. 😉
• Makes serious armies more competitive.
– If they don’t take in the message that it’sfor fun, they get more competitive and serious.
• Makes an army more inactive.
– If an army loses, they can become inactive.
• Develops rivalries between armies.
– An army may lose, but not accept defeat, and wage war with the other army.
There are many more positive effects than negative effects, but they possess a quality than can flip-flop warfare. THE OUTCOME. After a tournament is over, armies may get jealous of the winner army. I’m just telling you to be careful. Remember the Legends Cup, where an upset led the Nachos to victory? ACP waged war on them. That is why you MUST be careful with tournaments. Set your rules accordingly. Bring fairness into it. Don’t place armies in unfair groups on purpose! Randomly picked groups makes it fair for everyone. When you enter a tournament, be careful what you wish for. Prepare for ANYTHING. Make sure you have active troops. If not, you sir, are screwed.

I set up my own army called cbf and i was head of cpae - a small army news site. Ever since ive been closley involved with small/medium armies. I also invited Shimmy222- the founder of TR2G to cp armies.CPAE and cbf were hacked and broke up. Their now dead.I hoped to serve team red 2G as a loyal leader. Im the GFX guy round' here and I'm not half bad at CSS. I look forward to working with CPAE and continuing my long lived legacy of my career with club penguin armies. - Gistha2
